Libertarian Lies

For a long time, I was frustrated by Libertarians. Libertarians are the Conservatives that a Liberal will often be locked into debates online. They are the people who claim to care about liberty, lack of government, and money. They claim to not care about broader social things and make fun of social justice but never actually criticize Republican stance on social issues as they say that is not important. They are generally educated and opinionated and are willing to actually have a discussion with Liberals.

However, this is all reuse. The reason in my opinion why they are willing to debate Liberals is that most Libertarians are actually city Conservatives. They are educated and they live in cities and so they are often surrounded by Liberals. To blend in they call themselves Libertarians, but what they really are, are wolves in sheep clothing.

I realized it when I thought that in spite of Trump’s attacks on protests, on media on rule of law, that in spite of his spending our tax dollars and driving the debt, but the Libertarians still support him. In fact, they support him more than ever. His attacks on abortion, supported. His attack on science, supported. His attack on climate, supported. His spending, supported. His wars, supported. Trump drone strikes, supported.

The Libertarian label is simply a rebranding of a party that at its core is no different than ideologies of the middle ages

So what does this mean? The Libertarian label is simply a rebranding of a party that at its core is no different than ideologies of the middle ages of European religious rule, of a split between Catholics and Protestants, of repression of women and anyone not white. It is the belief that the wealthy can do no wrong and the poor must fill the coffers of the rich.

They believe this and go along with it, but for the sake of appearances and to not lose all respect among their Liberal peers, they call themselves Libertarians.

Realizing this actually is less respectful. If you are an educated person and your morals align with ideas from 1st century BC and the middle ages and you own it, that’s fine. But don’t pretend to be moderate and modern but then still vote for those same outdated principles. Don’t pretend like you are somehow more educated and that you have principles when you are never actually upholding them. Don’t pretend like there is a Libertarian party when your Libertarian Gods: Ron Paul and Rand Paul, the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit of no Government Government are Republicans.

Let’s stop believing the bullshit, let’s not give this credence to the city republicans who pretend to be something they are not while upholding the repression of women, repression of rights of LGBTQ, repression of the working-class while pretending to care about budgets. The Trump presidency has uncovered them. They are the same Republicans, the same hypocrites, the same people without principles.
