Biden administration decided to reward October 7th with a rejection of Oslo Accord conditions of a negotiated statehood, with a unilateral acceptance of one. There’s a great Flame article explaining on why that’s a very very bad idea. Let’s think through of what that would look like.
Day 1:
There is jubilation in the streets. Gunfire and sweets across Gaza and West Bank. Palestinian security no longer under any obligations to keep settlements from being invaded and Israel no longer able to control the areas around settlements, has to take the army into West Bank holding off Palestinian crowds as it creates emergency evacuation of Israelis from the settlements. Tens of thousands homes are raided and pillaged millions of dollars of investments are up in smoke. There will be loss of life on both sides as some Palestinians storm the troops and troops open fire and some troops inevitably harmed and perhaps some settlers in settlements where Israeli forces could not arrive fast enough. Mass unrest in Israel.
Day 2:
Hamas deposes Fatah and takes control of the state. Mass arrests and mass murder as it consolidates power. Women in the Palestinian parliament are relieved of their duties. Journalists, judges, security forces who are not aligned with Hamas are imprisoned or killed. Christians, Druze, Beduins and Samarians rush for the border with Israel and Jordan as their security is no longer guaranteed.
Day 3:
Hamas ends use of Shekel and proklaims its own currency. A crash in Palestinian economy takes place.
Day 5:
In celebration of victory, Hamas launches rockets into Israel from West Bank. Some are intercepted, many are not. Israel responds with air strikes. West Bank cities are hit with bombs in administration centers where Hamas take place.
Day 7:
Since Palestine is now an independent state, Israel is no longer under obligation to supply water, power or funds. EU, US, UN and World Bank no longer under obligation to supply Palestine with funds. They must now go through the proper channels to get loans. Israel no longer collects taxes. The economy falls apart, mass riots begin. UN demands Israel help but Israel is no longer under any legal requirement to do so. Hamas continues to hammer Israel with strikess. The border is completely closed ending ability to work for tens of thousands of Palestinians who used to go to Israel.
Day 8:
Chaos in the streets playing out on world media, a calamity that makes American pullout from Afghanistan look smooth by comparison. A massive hit to Democrats and win for Republicans. As Biden tries to help Palestinians but unable given the fact that Palestine is now in hands of Hamas, Republicans poised to take back the House and the White House. Repercussions as a result reverberate across the world.
Day 100:
Trump is elected and cuts off Ukraine from all support. Trump cuts off all support for NATO.
Day 200:
Putin consolidates control over Ukraine, kills Zelensky. Uses occupied territories to take over Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia, Armenia and Georgia.
Day 250:
China attacks Taiwan.
This sounds crazy, but it isn’t. This is inline with what most experts think might happen, crazier things have happened. No one thought we would use a Nuclear bomb, we did. No one thought Germany would attack Russia or England 20 years after WW1, it did. The ramifications of Hamas taking over Palestine would be more than bad, it would be calamitous.
