Zelensky is brave and he is persistent. He did the right thing at the right time. But today, news of corruption and mismanagement are coming to light every day. And if Zelensky doesn’t go after those issues, there will be no army to fight Russia or weapons coming to Ukraine.

One has to realize the result of war is years ahead. One has to plan ahead resources and the political will internally and externally. For a short war Zelensky was able to do this. For a long war large issues in Ukraine are coming to light and they may be the thing that keeps the West from happening.

I don’t like to criticize Ukraine, but only criticism can improve things and I want things not to just improve but keep them from getting worse.

The West is generous until it isn’t. If it sees financial mismanagement, it will have no political will to help Ukraine even if the loss of this war would be catastrophic for the war. Ukrainian fighters are brave but they will not fight if they do not believe that the country values their sacrifice and is doing everything it can to help them win. When they see that those who are wounded are mistreated or that the equipment is not arriving or that there is mismanagement in ranks without ability to address it, they lose morale.

Zelensky has done well considering the situation. He prevented take over of Ukraine and has won some territory back. But now is the tough part, now is also an opportunity to make Ukraine a country that follows laws, goes after corruption and creates the condition to win a protracted war. Those steps might be taken, but from what Ukrainian telegram channels say, neither they nor I see it. And if without these steps, the past year and a half and all the losses could be for nothing.
